Corporate Social Responsibility

Promotion and Development has always been committed to fulfilling its role as a responsible corporate citizen. Our well-established Corporate Social Responsibility policy is geared towards developing a constructive partnership approach with all our stakeholders with the aim of improving the quality of life of the community at large. Indeed, as part of our commitment to sustainable development, we recognize our social responsibilities and therefore aim at playing a leading role within the community.

The year 2009 is a major milestone in the development of CSR in Mauritius as well as with regards to the social commitment of PAD. The Government of Mauritius has indeed established a policy with the overall objective of mandating registered companies to pay 2% of their book profit for the benefit of CSR programmes that contribute to the social and environmental development of the country. PAD felt it was the most opportune moment to establish a full-fledged entity that would exclusively dedicate itself to ensuring that PAD’s CSR policy is adequately implemented. This led to the creation of our own CSR framework ‘Caudan Communauté’, whose scope of intervention is as follows:
  • the promotion of socio economic development, including poverty alleviation and the promotion of gender and human rights;
  • the promotion of development in the fields of health, education and training, leisure and environment;
  • the promotion of development in the field of intervention and support during and following catastrophic events; and
  • the undertaking or participation in programs approved by the National Corporate Social Responsibility Committee.

The role of ‘Caudan Communauté’ is to pre-select, appraise, follow-up, recommend, support project proposals and monitor approved projects in a wide range of fields that play a major role in sustaining social harmony.
